"Ask a car maker who it is targeting with its latest product and it will probably say 'young, adventurous professionals". Not SsangYong of South Korea, though, which described the ideal customers for its Korando as 'middle-aged caravanners from Wolverhampton". Just don't let that put you off, because the Korando is a very good car in almost every way – and it's cheap.

Ever since the birth of the popular Nissan Qashqai, the market has been awash with compact crossover sport-utility vehicles, many available for about the same £18,795 as the Korando. But none comes with the four-wheel drive and at least 140bhp – essential ingredients if you tow, live down a muddy track or are simply bored of grinding to a halt in winter weather…." – The Sunday Times
