FOCUS: KGM Safety Features

Purchasing a brand-new vehicle means you must put some serious thought into what your next car will be - do you need a spacious SUV? Do you want something that can easily navigate city streets? Do you need a true workhorse that can cope in rugged applications? 

Then there's other considerations to make such as colour, alloys, technology features and number of seats, but one thing that might not get much attention from most consumers is the level of safety features that come as standard. 

While technology has come on leaps and bounds when it comes to automotive manufacturing, you should always check that your desired car has the right safety features that are designed to protect you when you most need them. 

Across the KGM range, there is no shortage of safety features which are designed to keep the occupants of the car safe, as well as other road users and pedestrians. 

EURO NCAP RATING

If you want to glance at the overall safety rating for a specific car, you can search for any vehicle, including the KGM range, and see what star rating it has been awarded (5 being the maximum and identified as the safest). 

We are proud to say that the KGM Korando has been achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.

Airbags 

Offering maximum protection in the event of a collision, the 7 airbags are the most in its class and this also includes driver's knee protection - something that is usually only fitted to premium vehicles.

These airbags include side airbags, curtain airbags and driver's knee airbags, so you are covered from all angles in the event of a collision.

The KGM Rexton takes this one step further and features 9 airbags.

Driver assist features 

Driver assist features are designed to provide additional support to the driver via comprehensive technology.

lane departure warning and lane keeping assist 

Designed to keep the car in its lane, the Lane Departure Warning will provide an audible sound to the driver if the car starts to deviate from the lane they are driving in. 

Lane Keeping Assist goes one step further and will apply a small amount of counter-steering force to correct the position of the vehicle if the driver takes no corrective action. 

Front collision warning

An alert will sound if a vehicle or pedestrian appears in front of the vehicle, allowing the driver to take evasive action and brake accordingly. 

Front collision warning and autonomous emergency braking 

Using the on-board camera, the Forward Collision Warning will pre-empt a collision, either with a vehicle, a pedestrian, or a stationary object. 

A warning will alert the driver to take evasive action, and if no corrective action is taken, then Autonomous Emergency Braking will kick in and the vehicle will brake to prevent the collision. 

Traffic Sign recognition 

The pressure of all four tyres is constantly monitored and information is shown on the drivers display behind the steering wheel. 

This will let the driver know when the time arises to inflate the tyre or if a puncture has occurred. 

Trailer sway control 

With the KGM Musso, it might often be towing a trailer, especially if its being used in agricultural applications for example. 

Active Safety systems 

There are several active safety systems, that work in the background without driver intervention, all of which are designed to keep your vehicle safe on the road. 

ESP - electronic safety programme 

The Electronic Safety Programme is designed to adjust engine output and braking when the system detects that the driver might be about to lose control of the car. 

The ESP system combines the anti-lock brake system, active rollover protection, anti-slip regulation and brake-force assist. 

Brake assist system 

If the driver applies enough pressure to the brake that it is considered an emergency brake, the Brake Assist System will apply maximum braking effort automatically to reduce the stopping distance further to avoid a collision. 

ISOFIX Fittings

If you are travelling with children, you can anchor a child's car seat to the outer rear seats using ISOFIX points so you know that the car seat is secured correctly and will protect the passengers in the event of a collision. 

Peace of mind 

The KGM range comes with a 5-year / 100,000 mile warranty on diesel and petrol vehicles and 7-year / 90,000 miles on electric vehicles.
