About Ssangyong

SsangYong boasts an impressive fifty year heritage in 4x4, creating supremely capable vehicles loaded with the latest technology.

Founded in 1954, it has been manufacturing automobiles for more than five decades. It began its business as a manufacturer of commercial & special purpose vehicles including trucks, buses, mixers and fire-fighting trucks.

In 1988, it developed a compact 4WD SUV, Korando, which was the first SUV manufactured in Korea, opening the era of the SsangYong SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle).

In the early 1990s, Mercedes-Benz AG made a capital investment in SsangYong Motors to establish a strategic alliance and encourage cooperation in technologies, management and distribution.

In 1993, SsangYong Motors launched the Musso, an SUV with unique styling and outstanding performance.

2001 saw the launch of the Rexton, with its modern and refined styling coupled with a real off road pedigree to perform.

In May 2004 the Rodius was launched to an admiring MPV market.

Now in 2008, SsangYong is pleased to present its 3 new vehicle line-up. The new Rexton a full size 4x4 for any eventuality, the rugged new Kyron and the spacious new Rodius.
